Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a free service that provides access to printed books not available in the TEDU Ayşe Ilıcak Library collection for a limited period of time from partner university and research libraries in Turkey.

Partner institutions request materials from TEDU Ayşe Ilıcak Library via KITS (ANKOS Interlibrary Cooperation Tracking System). The lending conditions for other university and research libraries are available within the KITS system. Accordingly, partner institutions may borrow up to 5 books at a time for 15 days, with one renewal permitted. Audiovisual materials, reference and course materials, and newly published works are not available for loan.

If TEDU Ayşe Ilıcak Library users require access to a resource that has been loaned via ILL, the library reserves the right to recall the item. ILL regulations are applied in accordance with the “Interlibrary Loan Policy” prepared by the library commission. TEDU Ayşe Ilıcak Library reserves the right to amend these rules.

For information and requests, please send an e-mail to library@tedu.edu.tr

Interlibrary Loan Policy

  • Libraries which are members of ANKOS make their loan requests by using KITS (Interlibrary Cooperation Tracking System).
  • Libraries which are not members of ANKOS make interlibrary loan requests through reciprocal protocols.
  • Faculty members and students can make a loan request to the libraries which signed reciprocal protocols only by presenting their academic or student ID card.
  • Before making a loan request, the user should check the Library Catalogue to confirm the status and availability of the book(s) they want to borrow.
  • Faculty members and graduate students of universities and research institutes can borrow up to 7 books for 30 days, and undergraduate students can borrow up to 3 books for 15 days. Any institution can borrow a maximum of 15 books at one time.
  • Faculty members are responsible for the books they borrow, but universities are responsible for the books borrowed by their graduate students.
  • Loan extensions are possible twice, unless another user requests the book(s). However, it is not possible to reserve a book.
  • It is not possible to make a loan request for CD-ROMs or software, reference sources, audiovisual materials (films, cassettes, videos, CDs, DVDs), special collections, or periodicals.
  • If there are overdue or undelivered books in a user’s library account, the loan request will not be processed until the books are returned and the overdue penalty is paid.
  • The daily penalty for overdue or undelivered books is 6 TL per day. This penalty should be paid to Denizbank Cebeci Branch – IBAN TR27 0013 4000 0055 7473 0000 31, and the receipt should be sent to TED University Ayşe Ilıcak Library by e-mail.
  • The library making the loan request is responsible for any damages, delays, or losses of the books. TED University Ayşe Ilıcak Library cannot be held responsible for any of these.
  • Any library requesting a loan from TEDU Ayşe Ilıcak Library is deemed to have accepted the current terms and conditions of book lending. If borrowed books are returned more than 10 days overdue twice, the borrowing privileges of that library will be suspended for one year.
  • Books borrowed via cargo shipment must be returned in the same way. Cargo expenses must be covered by the borrowing library.
